Bios (under construction)

Depending on what you’re looking to highlight, I’ve got a few bios! If you’re unsure, the “general about” bio 🙂 Others are also available for special circumstances!

General About

Alex Masse, AKA Fairything, is a writer, musician, and student from what is colonially known as Vancouver, BC. Their work has been seen everywhere from the Scholastic Writing Awards to Autostraddle, as well as in collaboration with Penelope Scott, Vancouver Pride, Simon Fraser University, and more. They’re also a neurodivergent nonbinary lesbian, which greatly affects their process.
For Alex, art is a means of expression and connection, both with themself and others in their community. When not writing, they’re making music, and when not making music, they’re writing. Occasionally, though, they can be seen working on their degree, or cozied up with their cat.

Prose/General Writing Bio

Alex Masse, AKA Fairything, is a writer and musician from what is colonially known as Surrey, BC. They’ve had work featured in Autostraddle, TransLash, Worldsmyths, She Does The City, and more, and also hold two Scholastic Writing Awards Gold Keys. For Alex, writing is a means of connection and expression, within themself and with others, and a major source of joy and medicine–whether they’re writing about their experiences as a nonbinary autistic person, arts and media analysis, or hope-filled fiction on neuroqueer resilience. When not writing, they’re probably making music, and when not making music, they’re probably writing. Occasionally, though, they can be seen working on their Communication degree or cozied up with a good book.

Fairything Bio

Alex K. Masse, AKA Fairything, is a synthy, sapphic, singer-songwriter solo act (and probable changeling) making tunes to watch the sky to. Music is a longtime love of theirs, and they’ve been everywhere from Broadway Records crossovers to online multimedia collectives, from Vancouver Pride to working with the incomparable Penelope Scott. They’re also a member of Webpage 505, twice-featured on genre-bending digital art collective Goop House. Much of their musical inspiration comes from In Love With A Ghost, The Scary Jokes, Tikkle Me, and the video games & cartoons they grew up on. These influences shine through in their unique melodies, poetic lyricism, and the dreamy, synthy sounds of their Suzuki Omnichord. When not making music, Alex is probably writing, working on their Communication degree, or spreading magic in the local arts scene. They’re also a neurodivergent nonbinary lesbian, which greatly affects their process.
